The Wissing House - B&B INN - Bristol, Rhode Island 02809
Russell Warren, architect Bristol, Rhode Island is a wonderful place to visit
and live,
especially in the spring, summer and fall months. Founded in
1680, Bristol, RI. is considered America's most patriotic
town. Bristol's Fourth of July Parade is the oldest running Independence Day parade in America. People come from all over the world to witness the Fourth of July celebrations here in Bristol. There are concerts in the park for weeks leading up to the Fourth of July parade. The Wissing House, located at 89 State Street is just one house away from the parade route on Hope Street and is located in the heart of historic downtown Bristol, Rhode Island. The Wissing House is our featured Bristol bed and breakfast The Wissing House does
not offer guests breakfast or food
however close by within a minute or two
walking distance there are plenty of
places to grab a bit to eat including a homemade
bagel shop, several breakfast
restaurants and Dunkin Donuts, a cafe, a
saloon, an organic food shop, upscale
dining and pizza. When staying at the Wissing House you
are in luck if you want to take a day
trip to Newport or Providence. The
Providence / Newport public
transportation RIPTA buses run from very
early morning until midnight or later
most nights and often buses run every 30
minutes to 60 minutes depending on the
time of day. At The Wissing House there is one master bedroom with sitting room and a wonderful large bathroom with an old fashion extra large claw foot tub with an attached hand held shower for rinsing after your soothing bath, and also a smaller bedroom. Since The Wissing House has only a few rooms should you expect to stay there you will want to book well in advance if possible, especially during the summer months, and Roger Williams University graduation and parents weekend. You might just get lucky calling for a room at the last minute so give them a call. Jannie Wissing is your Innkeeper. She
is a wonderful hostess and impeccable
when it comes to making your stay an
enjoyable one.
Benno Wissing is considered one of the best graphic designers of his time and his work is everywhere from the Holland Festival, PAM, SHV, Makro, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the signposting system still used at Schiphol Airport today. He was founding partner of Total Design in 1963 in the Netherlands. After leaving Total Design in 1980 he accepted a professorial position at the Rhode School of Design in Rhode Island. Benno and Jannie fell in love with a home here in Bristol which is now known as The Wissing House.
